HTC S621 Review
The HTC S621 is in fact the same as the S620. This smartphone has been released under different names in different territories. Depending on where you are, you may find it known as the O2 Xda Cosmo, T-Mobile Dash, HTC S621, BT ToGo and the Dopod C720W. The S621 isn’t an overly large device. Its measurements come in at 4.39" x 2.46" x .50" inches (111.5mm height x 62.5mm width x 12.8mm depth) with a weight of 4.23 oz (130 grams), with battery. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera for taking quick shots while on the go. It has an illuminated QWERTY keypad and HTC’s branded HTC JOGGR wheel for one handed navigation when browsing documents, menus and web pages.
The HTC S621 operates on Quad band GSM frequencies, and can transmit data across GPRS and EDGE enabled networks. It also has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (802.11 b and g). It also has USB support and of course and a microSD slot for easy connectivity. The S621 comes with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM which is expanded with microSD cards. It runs off of a Texas Instruments OMAP 850, 201 MHz processor.
The LCD display screen is 2.4 inches with 320 x 240 pixels of resolution. It can display over 65,000 colors. It’s capable of displaying MP4 and WMV and other types of video files through the Windows Media Player Mobile. The camcorder feature can capture video in MP4, Motion JPEG, and H.263 formats and comes with various settings to play with for audio and video capture. Additional codec packs can be added in order to playback even more formats. For audio, the S621 can also playback AAC, MP3, WAV and WMA files. It has a speakerphone and is capable of voice dialing. You can make voice memos as well through the S621’s built in microphone. The S621 is reported to have a talk time of up to 5 hours and a standby time of up to 220 hours.
The S621 is a Windows Mobile 5 device and comes with a document viewer for your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. There is also a PDF reader as well. There is support for many of the popular HTML email clients as well as Outlook. This includes Direct Push email support as well. There are messaging features as well such as SMS and MMS (Multimedia Messaging). Messaging is easy with the QWERTY and combined with T9 IME text entry. The S621 also comes with various other software features such as Pocket MSN, games, etc.
There are also many third party applications available for free or paid download, a lot can be done directly through the phone itself or added using one of its many connectivity options. The S621 possess everything you need to get started being more productive while on the go. Its feature set is very large and includes all of the Personal Information Management tools for added efficiency and organization of the things you do and need to do in the future.
