Nokia E51 Review
The Nokia E51 is a light weight, thin and fully featured web enabled smartphone. Its dimensions come in at 115 ?47 ?12 millimeters (4.49" ?1.81" ?0.47") and weighs in at 100g (3.53oz). Its TFT QVGA screen size is 2 (diagonally) inches and has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. It’s capable of displaying over 16 million (24 bit) colors.
The Nokia E51 uses the Symbian OS v9.2, S60 3rd Edition OS and comes with 96 MB of RAM and 130 MB of rom. It can be expanded with hot swappable microSD cards. It’s powered by an ARM 11 369 MHz processor. Its battery life is rated as having up to 4.4 hours of talk time and up to 13 days on standby. The Nokia E51 has a 2 megapixel camera with a 4x digital zoom. You can even use it for video calls. It can record videos in H.263 (3GP) and MPEG-4 formats.
The Nokia E51 can also operate on these network frequencies – Quad Band GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 and Dual Band WCDMA 850 and 2100. It supports data transfer across GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE and high speed HSDPA networks where supported. The E51 is capable of running on 3G networks at speeds upwards to 3.6 Mbps. It also has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g with VOIP through Wi-Fi capabilities. For further device connectivity the E51 has a USB connection, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and an infrared port. The Bluetooth supports several profiles so you can connect to a wide assortment of other Bluetooth enabled devices.
The E51 has several voice features such as Push to talk (PTT), voice recorder and Text-to-speech. As far as PIM (Personal Information Management) features, the E51 has all of the basics covered with contacts, calendar and to-do list etc. There are also many third party applications to give even more functionality to the E51’s already robust feature list.
The E51 comes with Nokia Office Tools 2.0 which provides productivity tools for various actions. This includes document viewers for Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PDF files. These tools also include a phone wide search feature, a file manager and zip file support. Email is easily set up and utilized on the E51. It can support POP3, IMAP and SMTP protocols and can sync with Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes through your PC. SMS, MMS (multimedia messaging), and Instant Messaging are also supported as well. Yahoo, MSN and AOL messaging clients are all supported.
This mobile device comes with a built in music player and FM radio. It supports audio files in MP3, MPEG-4, AAC, eAAC+, WMA, AMR-NB, and AMR-WB formats. Ringtones can use these same formats as well. It is capable of playing back video files with H.264 (MPEG-4), 3gpp, and Real codecs. The capability to stream media is an added bonus.
The E51 can help you find that balance between being productive and being relaxed. With its Wi-Fi abilities and VOIP capabilities you can stay connected from even more places and possibly even save money on calls.
