The Pantech Duo is a slider phone, meaning that the numeric keypad slides out the bottom and the QWERTY keyboard slides out of the side. Measuring in at 4.01 x 1.97 x 0.78 inches (102 x 50 x 19.9 mm) and weighing 3.88 oz (110 g), this double slider packs a lot in a small case. The Duo has a 2.2 inch QVGA LCD screen with an LED backlight. It has a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and can display over 260,000 colors. The Duo has a 1.3 megapixel camera with a 4x zoom. For navigation through menus, documents and the web, the Pantech Duo includes a full QWERTY keyboard as well as a 5-way navigation key.

The Duo comes with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of flash ROM, and can be expanded through the use of its microSD card slot. It’s powered by a fast 416 MHz Xscale processor. It runs on GPRS/EDGE quad-band - UMTS/HSDPA dual-band (850/1900 MHz) giving it 3G functionality. Its battery life is rated as having a talk time of up to 3 hours and a standby by time of 10 days.

For connectivity outside of the cellular networks, The Duo comes with native Bluetooth (with A2DP profile) and miniUSB support. The minUSB port doubles as an audio jack. The A2DP provides the ability to use Bluetooth stereo headphones for a richer, fuller sound.

The Duo is a Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard powered smartphone. It comes with a full suite of productivity software. This includes Microsoft Office Mobile and Mobile Outlook. With Office Mobile you can create, edit and view Microsoft Word and Excel files and view PowerPoint files. It also has full email capabilities through XpressMail and Mobile Outlook with Direct Push. HTML POP3 clients are such as Yahoo and Hotmail are supported as well. SMS and MMS mobile messaging as well as instant messaging using AOL, Yahoo! and Windows Live is also readily available and easily handled with the full QWERTY.

The Duo, through the use of its built in Window's Media Player can playback various audio and video file types, including MP3, AAC, AAC+, MPEG4, H.263, WMA, WMV. Ring tones can be played back in Polyphonic, MP3, WMA and WAV formats. You can purchase tracks from digital music stores straight from the Duo itself. Stream XM radio or play Mobil TV and Cellular Video clips to keep yourself entertained while you are away from your own home entertainment.

The Duo manages to keep you in touch with your contacts as well as entertained with its many multimedia functions. The dual slide feature makes it easy to go from one task to another easily, especially since the Pantech Duo can handle simultaneous voice and data streams. You can browse online or edit a document while at the same time speaking on the phone. This is excellent for business types or busy types that like to multi task and get as many things done as they can in as short an amount of time as they can get it done.
